astroluca Posted December 17, 2018 Posted December 17, 2018 Hello I am new in this forum. Can anyone help I am trying to stack astropics but it does not work? Quote
Staff MEB Posted December 17, 2018 Staff Posted December 17, 2018 Hi astroluca, Welcome to Affinity Forums Can you be more specific please? What's not working for you? I assume you have gone to menu File ▸ New Stack and added the photos. Is the alignment failling or something else? There quite a few threads discussing this subject already (like this one: Image stacking/Merging). Do a search for astrophotography here in the forums and check them out. astroluca Posted December 17, 2018 Author Posted December 17, 2018 Hi MEB thanks for your answer. Yes it is the alignment not working, i did File - New stack and then added the files. I did exactly like in the tutorial Pin Sharp Stars and I tried several times. Quote
John Rostron Posted December 17, 2018 Posted December 17, 2018 Have you tried the suggestions in the thread mentioned by @MEB above (Image stacking/Merging). The OP there found it useful. astroluca Posted December 18, 2018 Author Posted December 18, 2018 The stacking process is not working, stars are not aligned, this happens with TIF files, if I use JPG files after stacking all stars disappear!!! I should do something wrong. astroluca Quote
John Rostron Posted December 18, 2018 Posted December 18, 2018 I had suggested in the linked thread @MEB mentioned, that the problem may be that the alignment algorithm is latching onto objects other than stars. Read the thread to see various methods for getting around this. What you see will depend on the mode selected for the stack. Any average mode (mean, median, mode) will not show individual stars unless they are aligned. You need to use a mode such as maximum, which should show individual stars in all layers.
