Placed Designer Files Converted to TIFF

I'm curious why in the most recent versions of APUB sometimes (not all the time) when I place a Designer file it is converted to an Image.tif file in the resource manager. If I then replace it in the resource manager it becomes a Designer file again.

If I then at some point update the linked file it is again converted to a TIFF file.

Any explanation for why this is happening and how to prevent it?

I've been trying a number of afdesign files and they are all staying as afdesign files it is not something I am able to replicate. Do you find it is usually the same file that does this for you or have you had it with a range of afdesign files?
