NewEmoji Posted December 9, 2018 Posted December 9, 2018 Hi there, what is the difference/benefits of buying Photo and Designer on Microsoft Store? I was about to buy and decided to investigate first. Many thanks! Quote
Staff stokerg Posted December 9, 2018 Staff Posted December 9, 2018 Hi NewEmoji and Welcome to the Forums, There are no differences, other than the way the app is downloaded and installed. With the Microsoft Store, all the updates are automatic. With our own store, the process is manual however we are able to push updates out quicker than waiting for it to go through the Microsoft Store. With the Microsoft Store version, you can't set Affinity Photo up as an external editor in other apps due to the way it installs. But apart from that, it's the same app Quote
walt.farrell Posted December 9, 2018 Posted December 9, 2018 I would say it's also (probably) easier to install on multiple computers for non-commercial use by family members if purchased from the Serif Store. It's possible to do it with the Microsoft Store, but somewhat tricky and convoluted. Also, installing on a computer that's not connected to the Internet should be easier when purchased from the Serif Store, as it can be downloaded to a connected computer and transferred to the disconnected computer using a USB stick. NewEmoji Posted December 10, 2018 Author Posted December 10, 2018 Thanks a lot! This is exactly what I was suspecting. Seems like Serif’s own version is a bit more flexible and mobile. Quote
