Tams Posted December 5, 2018 Posted December 5, 2018 Something I've come to really like in Microsoft Publisher is the scratch area, where you can temporarily dump assets. Affinity Publisher doesn't appear to have this. Yes, there are other ways to move assets between pages, but I find them more cumbersome and more detached from the publication I'm working on. On another note, being able to one click on a page preview to go to a page, rather than double click would be nice.

The "scratch area" exists in Publisher but it is per-page/spread and is not shared by multiple spreads; this was a deliberate design choice on the part of the developers because of complications they had dealt with in a prior product (PagePlus) which does have this area shared: As to the single-click / double-click thing:
Fixx Posted December 6, 2018 Posted December 6, 2018 In PageMaker there was a common pasteboard. When InDesign was introduced it had per spread pasteboard. I guess pasteboard got too crowded....
fde101 Posted December 6, 2018 Posted December 6, 2018 That kind of mimics what happened with PagePlus having a common pasteboard and Affinity Publisher going to a per spread one. In the thread I linked to above it is explained that the various mechanisms involved in making the shared pasteboard work when dealing with spreads of varied sizes were sufficiently complex that they decided to take this different approach with Publisher compared to PagePlus.
