How do I change the page surround from black to white (like on X8)

Hi,

 

I've recently upgraded from DrawPlus X8 on Windows to Affinity Designer on Mac and the main thing I'm struggling with is the black page surround on Affinity. Is there a way of changing it to white (like it was on the older DrawPlus versions) as I used this area all the time for temporary storage of items and photos?

Welcome to Affinity Forums
Go to Affinity Designer Preferences, User Interface sectioned adjust the Background Grey Level slider (for regular non-artboard based documents) and the Artboard Background Grey Level for artboard based documents.

Thank you for you're quick reply but is there a way that I can use the off page area for storing images whilst I work. If I move items off the page area at the moment they disappear.

In the View menu > View Mode, untick "Clip to Canvas," or use the keyboard shortcut for that.
