Dashed line update (post 1.2)

Recommended Posts

Hello Affinity,

I just updated to version 1.2 (congratulations, it's a nice update!). I've tried to use dashed lines but couldn't achieve the exact same result as in Illustrator when using this on closed shapes.

I've tried to create a shape like this but couldn't.

What I must check in Illustrator to achieve this result is this:

Any plan to include such an option in the near future? It would be very nice is this could be applied to rounded shapes as well (doesn't work very well with rounded shapes in Illustrator).

Thank you very much! ^_^

Hi Philippe,

I wouldn’t deem it impossible, though a bit cumbersome at the moment ... you have to play around with the parameters on the stroke panel, particularly with the phase parameter ... here’s a proof of concept. When you have found the desired shape, it’s perhaps advisable to expand the stroke to "bake" your dashed lines ...

Cheers,

Alex  :)

Hello Alex,

Yes, I've managed to get the same results by using Phase as well after posting this message. The ultimate reason is that I want to have this working flawlessly on rounded rectangles. Try it, you'll see it's much more difficult to get the right results. :)

Thank you for your answer!

Hi Phil,

out of curiosity I tried my luck with rounded rectangles as well ... well, it seems to work *in a way*, as long as you check the absolute sizes box in the context tool bar, but I must confess, it gets a bit cumbersome. So yes, I subscribe to your feature request ...  :)

If you want to have a look at my attempts, here they are ...

Cheers,

Alex
