Jon b
Affinity Photo for IPad really needs automatic lens correction. If PS express(free app) has the option I don’t understand why an app that I paid approximately £20 can’t have the same feature?
Staff Gabe Posted July 25, 2018 Staff Share Posted July 25, 2018 Hi @Jon b, Welcome to the forums. Affinity Photo iPad relies on Apple's RAW engine for lens correction. If either your camera or your lens is not on their supported list, it will not work. https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT207972 Thanks, Gabe. Jon b
Hi Gabe, camera is supported(Canon 550D with kit lens) but no attempt is made in correcting the lens distortion. Are there any plans to add the ability to correct distortion by drawing a straight line on what should be a straight edge?
Staff Gabe Posted July 25, 2018 Staff Share Posted July 25, 2018 I believe you got things a bit mixed up. Distortions are pincushion or barrel, not linear. You can straighten the horizon line by defining a "straight edge" but not a lens distortion. This require a different algorithm as the distortion gradually fades away as you approach the centre of the image. If you attach a sample file I can have a look for you. Staff MEB Posted July 25, 2018 Staff Share Posted July 25, 2018 Hi Jon b, Welcome to Affinity Forums What you want to correct is perspective distortion, not lens distortion. The closest (it's not really the same and may not work in most cases) feature we have on the iPad is the Perspective filter in the Filters Studio (in Photo Persona). Currently we don't have specialised tools where you can define the verticals to correct the perspective.
