Mithel Posted April 8, 2018 Posted April 8, 2018 Considering how often it is suggested to make a 50% grey layer, it seems like there should be a short cut to do this rather than making it several steps to create one. At the very least, on the fill dialog there could be a button for "50% Grey". (count the number of times the Affinity WorkBook instructs you to make a 50% grey layer!) Quote
Alfred Posted April 8, 2018 Posted April 8, 2018 Although there's no default shortcut for a 50% grey fill, you can easily add one. Go to 'Preferences > Keyboard Shortcuts', choose either 'Draw' or 'Pixel' from the first dropdown list and then choose 'Miscellaneous' from the second dropdown list. Put a tick in the 'Apply to all' checkbox to use the same shortcut for both personas, click in the 'Set Fill to 50% Grey' box and press your preferred shortcut key(s). Mithel Posted April 8, 2018 Author Posted April 8, 2018 Thanks Alfred, but those directions don't quite work. Yes, I've accomplished making a 50% grey short cut but it didn't fill the pixel layer. Following those directions and activating my shortcut key seems to set the primary color to 50% grey and then you still need to choose Edit; Fill. So this is still a multi step process: 1) Create a Pixel layer 2) Use your shortcut to set the primary color to 50% Grey 3) Edit; Fill; (or Shift-F5) (assuming the dialog has "Primary Color" selected) 4) Click Apply Quote
Alfred Posted April 8, 2018 Posted April 8, 2018 It's only two steps for a Fill layer filled with 50% grey ('Set Fill to 50% Grey' and then 'New Fill Layer') but for a Pixel layer filled with 50% grey it does currently seem to be more tortuous than strictly necessary.
