jackamus Posted December 11, 2017 Posted December 11, 2017 When I select a group and use 'alt' to drag a copy it doesn't snap to the original group. I've checked the Snap setting and there appears to be none for snapping to groups. Is there another way to do this? Quote If voting made any difference it wouldn't be allowed! Staff MEB Posted December 11, 2017 Staff Posted December 11, 2017 Hi jackamus, The ⌥ (option/alt) key duplicates an object but also overrides the snapping. If you use ⌘ (cmd) instead it duplicate the object and will honour you snapping settings. Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
jackamus Posted December 11, 2017 Author Posted December 11, 2017 Hi MEB, I tried but it doesn't seem to make any difference. Quote If voting made any difference it wouldn't be allowed! jackamus Posted December 11, 2017 Author Posted December 11, 2017 Hi MEB, I discovered that it will snap to a guide line and the group bounding box but not to an object within the group. Staff MEB Posted December 11, 2017 Staff Posted December 11, 2017 Grouped objects (and multiple selections) behave as if they were a single object regarding snapping so it's only possible to snap using their bounding boxes. If you want to snap the duplicated group to one of the objects on the original - ungroup the original group first, then drag the duplicate group and align/snap with the object you want.
