Hi - please forgive what I hope is a very elementary question, but I'm new to using graphic design programs & may have a few stupid questions. I'm trying to figure out how to delete an entire project/file from Affinity Designer & can't seem to do it!

The Affinity apps are not file managers, nor do they store project info in some special internal library folder or database like Apple' Photos app & a few other do. So to delete a saved Affinity file, that can be done in the same way as for any other ordinary file, like through the Mac Finder or Windows Explorer.

Just an update - I've been in an online chat w/Apple Support for an hour and a half - and they are not able to help me even find the files created in Affinity Designer. The files are saved in the app, but I cannot delete them, nor can I find them to do anything but work on them in the app!

I suppose you have actually saved them at some time? If you haven't saved them, they wont be on the disc.

Affinity Designer does not save files internally. It saves them on your hard disc like any other program.

Try going File > Save as and see where Designer is saving files to. In Windows, there is a menu option File > Open in Explorer, that opens the folder where they are saved. I think there is something similar in the Mac.

On a PC, if you hover over the image name on the tab, it gives you the full filing name and path.

Failing that, save a file with a unique name like "where_the_hell_is_it" and do a search for that. That will show you the folder where Designer is saving to. You can then delete them, etc.

So far my Mac Finder will not/can not locate any Affinity Designer files at all!

Try this:

1. Open a Finder window. It does not matter what it is showing.

2. In the search box at the top right, type without the quotes "afdesign"

3. Wait a moment for a dropdown to appear & when it does, choose the second item, "Affinity Designer Document"

4. Wait a few seconds & the Finder window should show you all your saved Affinity Designer files.

First of all, thank you for replying/helping. After quite a bit of time online w/Apple Support this morning, I have been able to locate the files & delete them by dragging them to the trash - however, when I open Affinity Designer, boom, there the file is in "Open Recents" - as if I never deleted it & emptied the trash at all. How can it be that any & every project I start in Affinity seems to have to be kept permanently? There's GOT to be a way to get rid of some files/projects for good that I neither need, nor want to keep. Any help w/this would be appreciated!

So what happens when you try to open one of these files from the "Open Recents" item in the Affinity (important!) File menu? If it opens, on the File menu choose "Reveal in Finder." Where does it show that file to be located?
