KarlJones
Hi, When I want to move a layer into another layer, I can offer it up next to the icon of the target layer, and get a small blue vertical place marker, or, I can offer it under the new layer entry and get a long horizontal blue place marker. What is the difference ? When should I use each one? thanks karl
toltec
The vertical line makes a mask. Drag a shape or text etc and the image fills the mask. The partial horizontal line (from the thumbnail to the far right) "nests" the dragged layer. You would normally use that to nest an adjustment or filter layer so it only affect the layer it is nested in. Not all the layers below, as it would normally. A full width line indicates moving the layer below . Quote Windows PCs. Photo and Designer, latest non-beta versions.
R C-R
You may find it helpful to watch the Affinity Photo - Clipping vs Masking video tutorial, particularly at about the 2:30 mark. I look forward to watching that myself. However, it's still only 12.30 pm in the UK, so a bit too early. Quote Windows PCs. Photo and Designer, latest non-beta versions.
