Three missing options (?)

Recommended Posts

1. Is there any option to merge two vector layers together? If no - that would be helpful.

2. The way you enter for example width and hight of the object acts very strange. Instead of manually deleting previous numbers it should be deleted when you start editing those numbers.

3. One more thing.. is there a a way to snap object to embedded images? When snapping object must be in the same layer?

Hi monk,

1 is definitely a good idea :)  I agree with you on point 2. I think that for point 3 you might be best taking a quick look at the snapping tutorials on our site (here) - you should be able to snap to anything on any layer - but it's all a question of candidates - watch the video and you'll get the idea :)

Thanks! :)

Ok, thank you MattP.

About those tutorials... I have watched them before my post here. But it seems like mouse-over for make object snapping candidate doesn't work all the time. Not sure why it happens. Bug maybe?

There are those all snapping options... For snapping I just need something very simple working like this function in Google Drawings. Is there a way to achieve this? In your tutorial with simple objects it seems it should work this way but I'm wondering why I cannot reproduce that in my project, even  when I have same snapping settings turned on. :(

Thanks for that! :) I've got the files now - I must say it's not acting as I'd expect either, but I'm wondering if this is a problem with embedded documents? I'll ask Ben to look at this for me when he gets in and then try to report back. Sorry about this in the meantime... :(

Ok - the simple answer is that Embedded Document nodes currently don't allow snapping - (they cannot be made a snapping candidate).  This was an oversight as Embedded Document nodes are a special case in our code.

I'll get it fixed.

No - that's a different Node/layer type.  It should say (Image) after the layer name.

Image nodes should have been working with snapping before.  My fixes for embedded documents will have tightened things up a bit more as well.

Did MattP forwarded you my project file Ben? They also seems to not work

The file I was given only has Embedded Documents - there are no placed image layers.

All icons were imported from other .afdesign files via Place Image Tool. They count as "embedded" then or what? Because previously I have imported them another way. Not remember how right now. Then there was something about "embeded files" in the name of their layers If I remember correctly.

EDIT: Ok, now I know how I did it before - simply by dropping .afdesign into my project. So it looks probably that's the same case and it's also embedded file.

#1 is in the plan to be done soon.

Don't we already do the alignment indicators like #2?  Snapping object bounds will show you which edges are in line.
