Thinuviel
Hi, Could you please help me with my task? I would like to cut out the object from the background. Let's say I have a vector icon of flower and I want to cut it out of the background. So the result I want is a cut out space in the shape of a flower in the background. I hope I wrote it understandable. I expect that it will be very simple but I really can't figure out how to do it  AbapocaEcosy
Staff MEB Posted May 9, 2017 Staff Share Posted May 9, 2017 Hi Thinuviel, Welcome to Affinity Forums :) If you have a (non-flattened) vector icon you should be able to simply select the vector objects that compose the flower, group them and move them independently of the background object. Are you sure you aren't talking about an image instead of a vector icon? Can you attach the file here so we can take a look at what you are working it (or post a screenshot of the application withe the Layers panel visible). Here's how to attach an image/file to a post. Thinuviel
Hi MEB, it is not really easy to upload an image because I don't know how to simulate what I want :-) And my problem is also more complex - the flower was just an example :-) Maybe the better description would be, that I want a hole in the image in shape of flower. It mean that I will have the background image (for example some full color photo) with the hole in shape of flower in the middle with transparent background. Is ti more clear? RNKLN
Hi Thinuviel, The easiest way to do this is by putting the vector on top of the image. Then, with the vector still selected, in the layers panel select the blending mode 'Erase'.
