Staff Lee D Posted May 8, 2017 Staff Share Posted May 8, 2017 Hi Dee, Welcome to the forums. Affinity Photos Inpainting tool is located on the left hand side toolbar, see the attached screenshot. Also before using the tool that the correct layer is selected, it needs to be a Pixel layer. Once you have defined the area to crop from your image click the Apply button on the Context toolbar above the image.
Alfred
Welcome to the Serif Affinity Forums, Dee. :) I have Affinity on trial. To make a choice between this and Photoshop! Have read & followed the tutorials and forum answers, but cannot find the Inpainting Tool. The only thing that happens is [the] Erase Tool makes a selection. Also the Crop Tool won't just crop to enlarge the area of the photo required, it just makes the photo smaller within a criss-cross box! I am inexperienced in using this type of programme, hope someone can help. Please turn off Caps Lock before posting. Apart from being considered to be 'shouting', it's quite difficult to read large chunks of text all in capital letters. Edit: I see that Lee answered your question about the Inpainting Brush Tool while I was retyping the quote from your post, but he hasn't addressed (and I don't understand!) your point about the Erase Tool making a selection. As for the Crop Tool, it's normally used to reduce the canvas size, so I'm a little surprised that you apparently expected it to do the opposite.
