cekuhnen
I opened this file in Affinity Designer and was surprised how slow the app is. When trying to do a selection the mouse cursor just spins for seconds. Moving or manipulating a path is impossible. The only way to do something is to zoom in a lot - then the app is fast. But I locked up Affinity few times needed to force quite it it. This is a disaster for me right now as it does not allow me to work with some very basic floor plan designs. Any idea why? Oddly enough normally Affinity is crazy fast - compared to AI. 2000_MICH-A2_BUILDING-2.pdf Quote Claas Kuhnen Faculty Industrial Design - Chair Interior Design - Wayne State University Owner studioKuhnen - product:interface:design

cekuhnen
any chance you have to many snapping options enabled? works totally fine on my side, just tested in in the latest beta on Mac I have snap off selecting some parts and rotating is impossible selecting a single element and rotating is fine. Screencast: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Byzv_NlyKp_2UmE5ZGxaNGp5Tk0/view When grouping parts the rotation works nearly instantly. Screencast: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Byzv_NlyKp_2SHBjYUJveDlRNjA/view It seems Designer is not able to rotate the elements individually all at once and just crumbles. anon1 1 Quote Claas Kuhnen Faculty Industrial Design - Chair Interior Design - Wayne State University Owner studioKuhnen - product:interface:design
anon1
very good observation, I can certainly exactly reproduce it on my end in the latest beta as well. so now we just need a moderator or dev coming along to report the issue :D cheers
JimmyJack
Over 12,000 objects in that pdf. Kinda dense for what it is visually so I looked a bit closer. A lot of funky stuff going on. (Posted just a couple examples below). What software made the pdf? Perhaps a different output would be more manageable in terms of actual number of (and more useable) elements. As far as this file goes.... I start to bog down at around 400 objects selected (while viewing the whole document). I'm sure mileage will vary depending on one's rig, but I wonder if there's an "official" density suggestion from Affinity. I guess the software treats a group (even if it contains all 12,000 objects) as just one. Good to know. 1: A simple "9" is made up of 14 objects. 2: This "B" has 26!!. 3: And this "B" is totally funky. 3: Some simple straight lines have been tripled: i.e. are now sets of two triangles. 4: There isn't one real "curve" in the whole document. Anything round/curved has been turned into faceted sections. (this one actually makes some sense if you're coming from CAD or 3D) Funky. anon1
well the thing is, affinity designer does not manage the selection + rotation well but it does manage it as soon as you group it so this should be really easy to optimize and thus should be looked at cheers
