Hi Zerror,

Welcome to Affinity Forums :)

Affinity is NOT a subscription based software. You own the license for the version you bought forever. You only have to pay for updates to major versions (ex: v2.0, 3.0 etc) if you want, but the version you paid for can be used indefinitely. All minor updates (ex: v1.5, 1.6, 1.x etc) are free.

Hi MEB. I am new here and am playing with the trial of AD 1.5.2.58. I had the same question as Zerror. However can I take it a step further. If I purchase version 1.x then I know I can get updates to version 1.x+n but will need to pay for version 2.y. Is there an upgrade path for users of version 1.x to version 2.y or is it a completely new purchase?

Many thanks and I look forward to being a user of AD.

PS... my questions arise from my direct use of XARA where their new "subscription" based licensing is like "putting lipstick on a pig". (to quote BO)

Hi Panchdara,

Welcome to Affinity Forums :)

This is not totally clear yet since currently the Mac App Store doesn't allow app upgrades and we want to provide the same conditions for both Mac and Windows users.

We are still far away from 2.0 release and until there things can change - either upgrades through the Mac App Store may become possible or we may start selling the Mac version through our own Affinity Store.

I believe there will be an upgrade path/discount to v2.0 but i can't give you a definite answer at this point, sorry.
