Pilate
I'm keen on escaping the adobe plantation. But I keep getting frustrated with squinting to use the interface. Both tool icons and menu text is too small! Consider the visual effort expended on an application's interface and add it up over a day's use. That time and energy expended is that much lost on the work that matters. This may be acceptable on an occasional basis but if one's using an application daily for hours at a time, the interface design is critical. I think this aspect is a major factor in expanding adoption.
Walter McQuie
I agree completely. The eye strain is particularly a problem on my 27", wide gamut, optimized for photo editing monitor. Not really a problem on a 13" retina display, but a serious photography tool needs to work well with other serious photography tools. Staff MEB Posted January 31, 2017 Staff Share Posted January 31, 2017 Hi Pilate, Walter McQuie, Welcome to Affinity Forums :) If you are working on a Mac, go to Affinity Designer/Photo Preferences, User Interface section and set the Font UI Size to Large. Walter McQuie
Thanks for the prompt reply MEB. Unfortunately it mostly reminded me how unimpressed I was when I made that switch. Part of it is inherent with light on dark text--I have similar issues with Capture One. But it is also font size. A large monitor wants an increased viewing distance. Online, I've set my browser at 150% text size, up from 120%. Similar flexibility seems reasonable in a photo editor that I will use for many more hours at a time.
