Does AD have a manual or tutorial steps to work along to ?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

what is there for beginners to follow ?

A manual ...and where is it ?

Tutorials and where are they ?

Help menu is not of use normally in progs as one must have a structured step by step for pupils to follow.

Help menus tell you about different things and what they do, but the learning process must be a thought out structured series of lessons as any teacher will agree.

Seeing something as a video is good as long as each click, each move, each selection is explained.

Before installing I want to know what I will be following.

Just watched someone on youtube changing colours and had to pause it many times and back track to see where his mouse flitted to next, as there was no sound commentary. This takes 4 x as long as just viewing it, as one then has to make notes else forget most of it.

For in-house videos, go to the Tutorials section of the forum. AD video tutorials are in the forth pinned topic category. The "Getting Started" section is a good place to start.

Because there are many, many different workflows & ways to achieve a desired result, there is no single "structured" way to learn it all. Some people will never use features that others will use constantly. It is not a "one size fits all" kind of thing.

There is a workbook available. It is on the Affinity website. (For some reason it won't let me post the link here).

I bought it on offer for £29.99 plus postage. They emailed me after I bought Affinity Designer. The manual is a heavy hardback book with lots of pretty coloured pictures but I have to say the index is singularly unhelpful (e.g. there is no entry for "line" or "lines").
