Highvoltage
This is a crazy one Attached a file. I just copied the button out of the symbol, which was never a symbol (the button) If you now delete any part of the button, it will sync to the symbols even though the object is not even a symbol or part of it. Furthermore, you cant undo this. Most crazy part: I have copyed the symbol from one document to another, and all the changes on the symbol are reflected IN THE OTHER DOCUMENT ALSO!!!! BUG - symb2.afdesign
Staff Sean P Posted October 25, 2016 Staff Share Posted October 25, 2016 Hi Highvoltage,I believe there are two separate issues at play here:Group objects originating inside a symbol that are copied outside the symbol are still treated as such and symbols copied from one document to another are still treated the same. Could you just confirm for me that I have covered all your issues with these two receipes please? Copying a group object outside of a symbol will still treat it as a symbol Steps: 1. Start a new document 2. Draw out a Rectangle and colour it Red 3. View > Studio > Symbols 4. With the Rectangle selected click 'Create' in the Symbol Panel 5. Deselect the Symbol object and create a Circle 6. Use the Artistic Text Tool and create some text so that it is placed over the circle 7. Select both the text and the circle and group them 8. In the Layers Panel drag the group so that it is inside the symbol 9. With the group object selected Edit > Copy to copy it 10. Select > Deselect to ensure everything is deselected 11. Edit > Paste to paste the group as a new object outside of the symbol 12. Move the group object so they are both visible 13. Expand the group that *is not* part of the symbol 14. Delete the text object Results: The text object is deleted in both the Symbol and non symbol version. The group is essentially acting as a symbol even though it is not.Copying a Symbol to a new document will affect the source document if changes are made.Steps: 1. Start a new document 2. Draw out a Rectangle and colour it Red 3. View > Studio > Symbols 4. With the Rectangle selected click 'Create' in the Symbol Panel 5. Drag out another instance of the rectangle 6. Now select one of the Symbol objects 7. Edit > Copy 8. File > New and create a new document 9. Edit > Paste to paste the symbol object into the new document 10. Expand the Symbol object in the new document and select the Rectangle 11. Change the colour 12. Return to the first document Observe the colour of the object has changed in the Symbols Panel 13. Zoom out the document Observe that now the document has refereshed you can see the Symbol objects have now changed.
Highvoltage
Yes, succesfully recreated both of them with the predicted result. (You might add that this is not an undoable opertaion)
