Hi josephbupe,

Welcome to Affinity Forums :)

Each vector object (shape/path) have its own layer in the layers panel. If you want to create a new generic layer where to place vector and other object/layer types click the Add Layer icon (third icon counting from left) on the bottom of the Layers panel.

Hi MEM, thank you for your prompt reply.

Actually, I was wondering whether Affinity Photo also handles vector or paths, and if so, are these in the same panel as images (pixels) or separate panel.

Please, clarify.

Affinity Photo does work the same way. All vector objects have their own layer in the Layers panel, however there's no generic Add Layer button there. Just create the objects with vector based tools (Pen, Shapes and Text tools). There's NO separate panel for paths as in Photoshop for example.

Hi MEB.  I am using Affinity Photo pen tool.   I can save a particular pen style (e.g. a thin grey line) and save it under "Styles'.  However, If I then change to using say a tool with a thick red line, when I return to using the pen tool I cannot get it to adopt to the saved Style (thin grey line), even though I click on the Style icon (before drawing the pen line), and trying ^ Cntrl. clicking, Cmd. clicking, etc.  I can only adopt the saved Style after I have drawn the pen line.

If I am drawing a series of lines they will all be drawn as the settings were previously left (i.e. a thick red line), and I can only change them to the saved Style by clicking on each layer and then clicking on the saved Style.  Surely, there must be a way for the pen tool to adopt to a saved Style before you draw it?

I think the problem is that you are confusing what the Styles are, they are to be applied to already made objects/shapes/curves. They do not change the default Pen tool settings. It is a matter of semantics.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

Thanks for the reply, Old Bruce; I understand now.  Surely though, there must be a way to remember particular Pen settings, without having to re-enter the settings?
