Please add a circular/ellipse overlay for cropping.

For at least the last decade, pretty much all social media and many other places (such as Affinity Photo forums) use circular photos for their users. Getting the crop right is terribly difficult without a visual guide to what will show in the circle. I'm aware of workarounds but they're tedious and laborious for such a basic need. There should be a simple crop overlay for this.

Also, would love the ability to create/import custom crop overlays.

I support you request. Nevertheless it is not too tedious:

Adding an ellipse shape, no fill, will give a perfect guide to define the cropped region.

Alternatively you can create a compound shape of rectangle and subtracted ellipse for convenience to get an immediate preview of the crop effect (before cropping)

When ready,

  1. selection from layer
  2. crop tool
  3. ok
  4. deactivate or delete compound
