GarryP Posted February 1 Posted February 1 Welcome to the forums @hannahk I’m not sure what you are requesting. Can you provide more detail please? Specifically, it's the “then execute similar to shapes” bit that I’m having trouble understanding. If you can provide a visual example then that might make it clearer. Quote
hannahk Posted February 1 Author Posted February 1 When you "Expand Stroke" on a shape (not yet converted to curves) like a rectangle or cog, the shape is automatically converted to curves, and then the expansion is applied. If you "Expand Stroke" on text nothing happens. I'm hoping for the same automatic conversion to curves and then expand application there. Quote
GarryP Posted February 1 Posted February 1 Ah, okay, I think I understand your requirements now. Currently, when you have an Artistic Text layer selected, and you choose menu “Layer → Expand Stroke”, the layer remains as it was without being expanded into separate layers – one layer for the Fill, and one layer for each Stroke. However, when you apply that same functionality, you would like the Artistic Text layer to be expanded into separate layers in the same way as it would when a Shape layer is selected. Is that correct? My attached video shows what currently happens for anyone reading this who is interested. The Shape is expanded into separate layers but the Artistic Text layer remains as it was (but is deselected). 2025-02-01 09-49-34.mp4 Quote

Try it the other way around with text Layer > Convert to Curves then Select the layers and... Layer > Expand Stroke Quote To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. If any of "my" posts are wrong or appear to be total b*ll*cks they are the ones generated by the AI. If correct they were probably mine. I apologise for any mistakes made by my AI - I'm sure it will improve with time.

Layer > Expand Stroke I think what they are requesting is that the two steps are ‘combined’ into one, in the same way that we don’t need to use two steps when using “Expand Stroke” with Shape layers. hannahk 1 Quote
hannahk Posted February 1 Author Posted February 1 (edited) @GarryP thank you so much for the much more complete explanation, a frustrating disability can make it very difficult to convey ideas in language or create media that's not art focused, your aid is very appreciated. @carl123 I realize this is a request to save ones of clicks but I forget it not applying to text regularly and have a moment of irritation. This is very much not critical, but having uniform behavior where if a non-curve can itself bear a stroke then Expand Stroke performs the conversion first inline seems like a good UI/UX practice.
