A document is set up with facing pages and margins are set with a larger gap between the margin and the spine and a smaller gap between the margin and the page edge. If a single page is added meaning the text box on the right page is now moved down to the left page the text box does not auto align to the margins but instead retains its positioning as it was when on the right page. This behaviour trickles on down the entire document meaning all text boxes must be manually realigned. Replicating this in Adobe indesign the text boxes auto align to the page margins. Am I missing a setting somewhere or is this the way the software is supposed to work?

The placement of objects is based on the positions in the Master Page used. If the appearance of the opposing pages is different, this must also be taken into account in the relevant Master Page.

Hi @KAB-TyBB and welcome to the forums,

This is something that has been addressed in version 2.6 which is currently in Beta RC2 and will hopefully be launched soon... Version 2.6 includes an Anchor Towards Spine option which will literally do what you are looking for...

Unfortunately, version 2.5.7 doesn't include this option...

Affinity Designer 2.5.7 | Affinity Photo 2.5.7 | Affinity Publisher 2.5.7
