Hi all,

Can you please help me with the very annoying behaviour of the horizontal scrollbar?

When I drag the horizontal scrollbar with the mouse left or right, the drawing scrolls vertically down. When thereafter dragging the horizontal scrollbar in the opposite direction, it still goes down. I see the vertical ruler going down, even when changing scroll directions. I checked the settings, but there is nothing I can see.

This only happens in Designer, not in Photo or Publisher. I am using 2.5.7 on Windows 11.

I solved my problem by using CTRL - shift together with the scroll wheel on my mouse to scroll horizontally. When loosing the image on screen, I use "View" --> "Zoom" --> "Zoom to fit" to center it back on the screen.

I think this is a very annoying bug in Designer, severely delaying the creation process.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Kind Regards,

Chris

What are the display specs and settings?

Hello Alfred,

Thank you for your question, which leads me to the cause.

I am working on a laptop with a second big screen. I extend the screen, and Designer is on the big screen. After reading your reply, I duplicated the screens, so I see on both screens the same.

When the screen is duplicated, the scrollbars work perfectly. When I go back to extend screens, the weird behaviour returns. However, I find it weird that Photo and Publisher are not affected.

For  the time being, I will use duplicate screen to avoid the buggy behaviour of Designer.

Thank you for your  reply which I appreciate.

Kind Regards,

Chris

Hi again,

I just find the solution when this weird behaviour happens.

Just switch your extended screens to duplicate again. Confirm the change. Then switch to extended again and confirm. The scrollbar is behaving normal again.

It is not a bug in Affinity Designer. The cause is the extended screens.

I hope this will help when you find yourself in the same situation.

Kind Regards,

Chris
