PrivacyFirst Posted January 20 Posted January 20 After spending hours working on a design in Designer V2, ensuring that everything was snapping to the grid to keep lines similar across parts of the design.. I relaunched the app today, and EVERYTHING is no longer inline with the Grid Lines.. Only realizing after I started to snap nodes back to the grid, and realized they were no longer the same size because the Grid Lines shifted! How do the developers fail to ensure the most basic part of the app works properly! 100% regret switching from Adobe Illustrator to Affinity Designer! Quote
MikeTO Posted January 20 Posted January 20 Did the grid shift or were you just zoomed out and the grid spacing changed automatically? Try choosing View > Grid and Axis... and changing Mode from Automatic to Basic. I don't know where "View" is on the iPad .. but in the Grid Settings (on the iPad) I have Grid Mode set to "Standard", Spacing set to "1px", Divisions set to "1px" and Gutter set to "0px" And "Show Pixel Grid" is off/disabled.. When I zoom out, the guide goes away.. I'm guessing because I have it set to suck a low pixel spacing.. because if I increase the Spacing the Grid shows when I zoom out. All these lines, were snapped to the grid at one point in time.. now they are not.. Quote
MikeTO Posted January 20 Posted January 20 Sorry, I didn't notice that this was in the iPad forum. There is no Basci option on iPad and selecting Standard as you've done is correct. I thought your issue was that the grid lines simply didn't appear as you zoomed out but you've already figured that out. I don't know how your objects ended up not aligned to your grid. Just to confirm, you have opened an afdesign file and not something like an svg or pdf? And you didn't change the page size after snapping the object to the grid? If it's not those and you're sure you'd didn't accidentally move objects (I do that from time to time), then perhaps somebody else will have a better suggestion. Good luck Quote Download a free PDF manual for Affinity Publisher 2.6 Download a quick reference chart for Affinity's Special Characters Affinity 2.6 for macOS Sequoia 15.3, MacBook Pro (M4 Pro) and iPad Air (M2)

Good luck Yes it's an .afdesign file; originally created in, and saved from Affinity Designer. Haven't changed page/canvas size. There are about 57 different "curves" spread across 6 different Groups.. All are curves/layers are offset from the grid now. I'm not sure how I could have managed to select all 6 grids at once to move them all. When the layers panel doesn't say popped out, and I was using the node tool to snap nodes to the grid, as all the curves have expanded strokes. Everything was snapped to the grid when I was working on the file.. I put my tablet down, so I could go do other things, and when I came back, tapped on the file in the "live" tab, when it opened, zoomed in to start working again.. and everything was offset from the grid. NotMyFault Posted January 20 Posted January 20 To verify position / size, use pixel grid (not regular grip) and activate pixel view mode and activate transparent canvas. this makes it easier to spot misalignment immediately what it happens (edges will be semitransparent, colors will change) Quote Mac mini M1 A2348 | MBP M3 Windows 11 - AMD Ryzen 9 5900x - 32 GB RAM - Nvidia GTX 1080 LG34WK950U-W, calibrated to DCI-P3 with LG Calibration Studio / Spider 5 | Dell 27“ 4K iPad Air Gen 5 (2022) A2589 Special interest into procedural texture filter, edit alpha channel, RGB/16 and RGB/32 color formats, stacking, finding root causes for misbehaving files, finding creative solutions for unsolvable tasks, finding bugs in Apps. NotMyFault Posted January 20 Posted January 20 From the screenshots it looks like you use stroke values and stroke settings which will cause fractional pixels no matter if the curves itself are pixel alligned. For what purpose do you want pixel alignment? Again the Grid either rendered incorrectly when I was zooming in/out and I started designing, then when I reopened the files, all the layers were offset from the grid by ½ a pixel or so.. I use pixel grid; the Standard Grid is set to 1x1 pixel.. Which I need to ensure all things are spaced exactly the same in a UI design. Quote

NotMyFault Posted January 20 Posted January 20 Do you use artboards? if yes, is the position of the artboard pixel aligned? please activate rulers and pixel grid (not the regular grid set to 1px) Quote Mac mini M1 A2348 | MBP M3 Windows 11 - AMD Ryzen 9 5900x - 32 GB RAM - Nvidia GTX 1080 LG34WK950U-W, calibrated to DCI-P3 with LG Calibration Studio / Spider 5 | Dell 27“ 4K iPad Air Gen 5 (2022) A2589 Special interest into procedural texture filter, edit alpha channel, RGB/16 and RGB/32 color formats, stacking, finding root causes for misbehaving files, finding creative solutions for unsolvable tasks, finding bugs in Apps. NotMyFault Posted January 20 Posted January 20 Or did you move the origin of the rulers / grid by accident? this can happen if you click-drag in the top left area of the rulers.
