Hamfast Posted January 16 Posted January 16 Affinity Photo 2.5.7 has an issue with .NET that seems to manifest when you create and Adjustment layer and apply a Adjustment to it, and then drag the Adjustment onto a particular layer. The program just crashes. The Event Viewer reports the following error: Application: Photo.exe Framework Version: v4.0.30319 Description: The process was terminated due to an unhandled exception. Exception Info: System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException at MS.Win32.UnsafeNativeMethods.DoDragDrop(System.Runtime.InteropServices.ComTypes.IDataObject, IOleDropSource, Int32, Int32[]) at System.Windows.OleServicesContext.OleDoDragDrop(System.Runtime.InteropServices.ComTypes.IDataObject, IOleDropSource, Int32, Int32[]) at System.Windows.DragDrop.OleDoDragDrop(System.Windows.DependencyObject, System.Windows.DataObject, System.Windows.DragDropEffects) at System.Windows.DragDrop.DoDragDrop(System.Windows.DependencyObject, System.Object, System.Windows.DragDropEffects) at Serif.Affinity.UI.Controls.LayerView.BeginDrag(System.Windows.Input.MouseEventArgs)... Hamfast Posted January 16 Author Posted January 16 Update to this thread. It seems that the 2025-01 Cumulative Update for .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.8.1 for Windows 11, version 23H2 for x64 (KB5049624) installed on the 14 January breaks the Drag and Drop functionality with Layers in Affinity Photo 2.5.7. I rolled back that particular update (just the .NET update) and after restarting my computer was able to use the Drag and Drop without any crashes in Affinity Photo. I was able to reproduce this error on Affinity Photo 1.10.6, Photo 2.5.7 as well as 2.6 Beta. All three now work and do not crash with the .NET update uninstalled. Quote
Latens Posted January 16 Posted January 16 Just checked and I have the KB5049624 installed on windows11 pro and have no problems in working with afphoto 2.5.7 / beta 2.6.0.3027 and 1.10.6 Quote .
Staff Lee D Posted January 21 Staff Posted January 21 @Hamfast Have you tried reinstalling the update to your system? I also have that update installed and I'm not experiencing any crashes when adding an adjustment layer, editing and applying to other layers. Is this happening with any document/image or a particular one? Quote
Hamfast Posted February 16 Author Posted February 16 I left windows alone and last Tuesday some updates on Windows 11 went through. And this morning (16 February) I tried to run Affinity Photo 2 and the program crashed whenever I added an adjustment layer or tried to drag and drop layers (to reorder) I went to Windows Updates and checked the Event Viewer and uninstalled KB5050021 (A Security update) and once I restarted the computer and went into Affinity Photo 2 again, the adjustment layer and reordering layers worked again OK.
