I’m not sure if I’m reading your suggestion properly as it sounds a little bit strange to me.

Can you explain more about, and give a visual example of, what you would like to be able to do.

It’s quite simple: There should be a command to add a page after the current one.

For me, this is a very frequent task and I am surprised it is not possible in Affinity Publisher. Of course, I can do Document / Add Page. Yay, this even has a keyboard shortcut! However, the new page gets added at the very end of the document. Oh no! Having to move the added page from the end to where I want it (i. e. after the page I was at) every time is very frustrating.

If you choose Document > Add Pages or right-click the page and choose Add Pages, the page number field defaults to the current page which is convenient.

If you click the Add Pages button in the Pages panel, the page number field defaults to the last page of the document which is less convenient.

Is this what you're asking for, for the field to always default to the current page?

Thanks for your sharing your insights, Mike.

After playing around some more, it seems that:

  • Document > Add Page (without s), via shortcut or the menu, simply adds a page at the end of the document without asking where I want it.
  • Document > Add Pages (with s) defaults to the current page (this is probably what you referred to), which is the closest to what I want.
  • The Add Pages button in the Pages panel defaults to the last page of the document, as you mentioned.
  • Right-clicking in the Pages panel, then Add Pages, also defaults to the current page.

So, it seems a simple keyboard shortcut to add a page after the current one, without further dialog, is out of reach for now, which is a pity.
