krikor Posted January 15 Posted January 15 Hi, I upgraded my M1 Max 32giga ram from Ventura to Sonoma 14.7.2 because of some app requiring it. Since that all the up to date affinity application 2.5.7 have become slower and takes sometimes up to 30/40 seconds to open a very simple document with layer and 5 seconds minimum to open a 200ko image. They also sometimes get stuck with the wheel of death coming in. Photo is rendered unusable. All the apps won't open any document from the recent files menu, even though they were not moved. Anyone has a similar problem, is there a way to track what is happening during those long sends to load a single image? the app also crashes on quit or I need to force quit. I have tried removing the iCloud sync of the app and the optimisation of the iCloud Drive. I tried trashing all preferences and re installing the apps, and it still acts the same. Thanks Quote
Staff Callum Posted January 15 Staff Posted January 15 Hi Krikor, Sorry to hear the app is performing slowly since updating to Sonoma, please could you confirm if you downloaded the apps from the app store or from our website directly? If you downloaded from our site it might be worth trying the App Store version just to see if the same issue occurs. Thanks C Quote Please tag me using @ in your reply so I can be sure to respond ASAP.

I took out the iCloud sync and they start normally but opening any docs takes a long time and the open and open recent files menu doesn’t work, only sliding on the icon to open or to the application window does. I bought the full pack with iOS apps, how can I download from the AppStore? thanks EDIT: I did it and unfortunately it didn't change anything. acting exactly the same, recent document won't work, opening will but takes like 15 seconds to load a 100ko jpeg or png. If I reopen the same image afterwards it works and open instantly, but recent files menu doesn't work. So it might be some database bug or something like that? Quote
krikor Posted January 17 Author Posted January 17 It seems the external plugins/modules don't work anymore either Quote

Staff Callum Posted January 20 Staff Posted January 20 Hi Krikor, Unfortunately logs are only generated if the app crashes which in your case it sounds as though it isn't. In regards to your issue with plugins does reinstalling them have any effect at all? Regarding the files opening slowly does occur with both files stored locally or is it only files stored in your iCloud drive? Please could you also navigate to the apps preferences and provide a screenshot of the entire performance window? This will allow me to look into this further with you. Hi It did crash, so the logs might be present. I reinstalled all plugins and it didn't change anything. I didn't open any files from the cloud when doing all the tests. attached is the pref, I tried to deactivate and reactive Metal support, no changes, it was off at first as it seems to generate artefacts where I export to pdf. krikor Posted January 22 Author Posted January 22 I have tried reseting everything and erasing all files, nothing helped. I must say I don't know what to do. I'm totally stuck and can't use the app. Quote
Staff Callum Posted January 22 Staff Posted January 22 Hi Krikor, Thank you for providing the log. I can see from the log you are using the Mac App Store version of the apps and wonder if Apple Sandboxing might be causing the slowdown as it has been known to in the past. Please could you try downloading and installing the version hosted on our site using the below link just to see if you run into the same issues? You should still be able to sign-in with your Affinity account to activate your licence etc. https://store.serif.com/en-gb/update/macos/photo/2/ Quote Please tag me using @ in your reply so I can be sure to respond ASAP.

Maybe I didn't mention to but the slowing down and not being able to open recent files from the menu is happening with the whole suite, not only the photo app. Quote

Also it didn't fix the slow opening of files Quote
