Hi guys,

I have a new pc and installed the V1 software on it. Whenever i open a file in photo or designer, the app crashes and windows becomes nearly unresponsive. Mouse lags, can barely open task manager. Processor stays below 10% and memory below 20% while it crashes. Tried with hardware acceleration off and updated graphics drivers. No success. Also checked the list with interfering apps and i have none of those installed.

If anyone has a possible solution, please let me know.

Hardware:

AMD 9950x
4070 TI Super
64 GB DDR5

Hi @blleh,

Most crashes when opening a file are related to graphics drivers or hardware acceleration, so i'm surprised disabling that didn't and updating graphics drivers didn't help in this case.

Can you check for a crash report?  You may have more than 1 report, but just attach the latest one as that should match up to this crash.  To find the report, see here.

Thank you for your reply. Those folders are empty. No reports seem to have been created.

I had 1 instance where it didn't crash, but every other time it crashed. Still no idea what could have caused it.

A new update for the graphics drivers has just been released and since that update, i can now open the app without crashing. I think it might have resolved the issue. Thank you. if it happens again i will reopen this post.

Unfortunately, it was just a one off. i have tried to use it several times past weeks and it still crashes. It freezes up my whole pc. no crash logs are made and i cannot find any setting to turn them on. The crash log folder of each app is empty.

i also just deleted all apps and reinstalled them and that didn't make a difference.
i tried running compatibility solver and none of the provided options worked.

further assistance would be greatly appreciated

I would try Edit/Preferences/Performance and set the Renderer to WARP, restart the program
This bypasses the graphic card and does everything in software. It will probably be very s l o w but it it works it'll indicate that Photo/Designer doesn't like your graphic card

I have changed that one to the AMD onboard graphics and the crashes stopped. This way it works. Guess it doesn't like my Graphics card as you said.

If anyone knows why i would still appreciate a solution since my gpu is a lot more powerful, but this is already a pretty good workaround.

Thank you for your answer David.
