Mainecoon364 Posted January 9 Posted January 9 Question 1) I watched a tutorial video. He says the difference Levels with curves is that on Levels when you choose a Red channel and edit red color It also edit other colors as well. Blue, Green etc.? However I also heard that unless the RAW to JPEG algorithm and compression is not garbage must be other colors as well in a specific color. Like blue etc.? So all colors must be affected? I’m confused. Question 2) When Editing A Specific Color Channel Does It Affect Other Colors As Well? With the tools below; Question 2.1) Histogram ? Develop Persona - Basic Studio Question 2.2) Adjustment Studio - Levels ? Question 2.3) Adjustment Studio - Curves ? Question 2.4) Adjustment Studio - HSL ? Question 2.5) Channels Studio ? Quote

Both Levels and curves adjustment allow to target a specific channel and do not impact the others. But it depends on other circumstances, e.g if the color format differs between document and chosen in curves. This will always impact multiple color channels. In channels studio you can limit which color channels get impacted by brush work and some other tools. It does not limit the effect of adjustments or live filters. It will limit the impact of destructive / non-live filters. NotMyFault Posted January 9 Posted January 9 You must distinguish between tools to render / view color channels and editing tools, adjustments, filters. histogram and scope only show information, and you can choose which color channels are shown. tools, brushes, filters will impact the rendered content. the color studio is hybrid: you can limit which color channels gets impacted, but only for certain functions (e.g. editing tools like brush of fill tool, but not for other functions like delete layer) you can choose which color channels gets rendered so you can choose to brush on the red channel, but render the green channel. The impact of the brush will be invisible until you reset the channels studio. a special case is the alpha channel. Some edits require beeing allowed to impact the alpha channel, otherwise you can’t brush on an empty pixel layer Quote Mac mini M1 A2348 | MBP M3 Windows 11 - AMD Ryzen 9 5900x - 32 GB RAM - Nvidia GTX 1080 LG34WK950U-W, calibrated to DCI-P3 with LG Calibration Studio / Spider 5 | Dell 27“ 4K iPad Air Gen 5 (2022) A2589 Special interest into procedural texture filter, edit alpha channel, RGB/16 and RGB/32 color formats, stacking, finding root causes for misbehaving files, finding creative solutions for unsolvable tasks, finding bugs in Apps. Mainecoon364 Posted January 9 Author Posted January 9 I think the video is this. But I couldn’t find the time he talks about It right now. So you’ve said when we choose a specific color channel and edit It does not affect other colors. But on the image I see all the colors are affected. That’s because all colors contains other colors in some degree. Right? For example a blue sky may contain an amount of red. We see It when we take sample with the color picker tool. Right? For the application to edit a certain color It’s appropriate to isolate the area and work there or take the sample with color picker. ? Quote
