jcc5018 Posted January 4 Posted January 4 so, I somehow ended up with 2 copies of my text from word in my layers panel. Any time I try to delete, it just shows up on the next page. This is causing a lot of issues. When I attempted to update the document, It wouldn't allow me to just copy paste as the word document had index marks that were showing up in affinity as plain text. But I am having a lot of trouble updating and flowing the correct text. I have spent several hours going through and reformatting everything the way I expected it to be. So I really don't want to have to do that again. So how do I get rid of the double content in my layers as toggle visibility or deleting text seems to only apply to one page at a time. And then, how do I properly reflow the text without losing all the work I did with formatting? As currently, part of my text is 22 pages away from where it should be. Quote
Alfred Posted January 4 Posted January 4 If the text is on one or more Master Pages, it will show up on every regular page associated with those MPs. If the text is in a series of linked text frames, deleting a frame will only delete that container (i.e. not the text that it held) causing the text to reflow through the remaining frames. jcc5018 Posted January 4 Author Posted January 4 ok.... i have a master page that includes the text frame. But I don't post my text in that. I have the MP assigned to all the pages. But this does not answer either of my questions. 1. How do I delete the multiple instances of the text? (hoping I can identify the current version) 2. How do I remove it all without undoing everything I did to reformat things and reflow the text properly? Quote

(hoping I can identify the current version) Delete as usual: Select the text you want to delete with a Text Tool, then delete. If the text flows across multiple frames or pages click-place the text cursor at the beginning, scroll to the last relevant text frame (without switching the tool), press shift key + place the cursor at the end of the text you want to delete. This selects all text between your two text-cursor clicks. Then delete. 18 minutes ago, jcc5018 said: 2. It is not possible to replace text that has different styles applied and retain the different style assignments.* – You can only retain the text style definitions by saving them in the Text Styles panel. * how would you expect it to work if the replacement text differs from the current and formatted text? Should it keep the assigned styles by the number of words or characters for instance? What should happen with an assigned style, if these numbers differ in the two text versions?
