Missing the Context Toolbar for the Vector Crop Tool

All other context toolbars appear when I click their buttons.  Only the Vector Crop Tool refuses to display its context toolbar.

I've just installed this on a new computer, so very little time to fiddle with settings and get myself in trouble.

We can't rule out that I just don't know what I'm doing, but there's no toolbar there, let alone a toolbar with buttons that are not enabled.

I've tried pressing Enter and other methods mentioned elsewhere.  Oddly, the page in Affinity Designer Help that applies to the Vector Crop Tool gives you a lot of info on how to select, but not how to commit. Because there should be an "Apply" button.

Although Affinity does not make it clear, the Crop Tools in Designer and Photo work in different ways!

In Designer the Crop Tool crops the selected item, whereas in Photo it crops the whole canvas.

Unlike Photo there is no context toolbar when cropping in Designer and no "Apply" button.

First, thanks much for this enlightenment.  It explains why Vector Crop Tool doesn't have a context toolbar.  I take it it doesn't crop the canvas, just the objects selected?  So...  Second, can anyone tell me how it does work?  Is it in the clipboard?  Because nothing seemed to happen.

It crops the selected object, not the canvas. Drag one of the object's handles to non-destructively crop the object. Experiment with it and you'll see it crops the object and you can drag it back to un-crop it.
