I created this pattern in Affinity Photo using a Pattern layer and two or three of my free 'Byzantium' gold brushes. It was relatively easy, but like everything I do, there was a lot of experimenting at first, which does take quite a bit of time until I am happy with the final piece of artwork...

First, I took a small section of an image. It didn't matter what it was - it could be anything, a section of a leaf, a bit of gold thread, an eyeball, anything... because I was going to duplicate and rotate it to make a pattern.

I moved the Enable Transform Origin point (the centre point) of the shape to be at one end of the object, then duplicated and rotated it until I had a half circle.

I applied a HSL Colour Adjustment and changed the original colour from blue to bright green and added an emboss effect.

Then I created a gold circle and added an Emboss and 3D effect to it. Then I made two more layers. On the first layer, I made a single dab of the 'Gold Spheres Trim, Small' brush (from my free 'Byzantium' gold brush pack), while on the second layer, I made a single dab of the 'Gold Rings Line' brush.

I brought in a spiral shape I had drawn in Affinity Designer, coloured it and applied a 3D and Emboss effect to it and added a drop shadow. I aligned all three and positioned them to be at the topmost point of the curved green shape and just spaced them all out...

Finally, I dabbed a single gold sphere over the top of each gold circle and duplicated it, positioning each in the centre of the gold circles.

I like the simplicity of this pattern...
