tleparskas Posted December 23, 2024 Posted December 23, 2024 Though this was supposed to have been fixed in 2.5.2, but it still seems to be causing trouble. I have installed fonts in the main Windows Font folder that Designer version 2.5.7.2948 does NOT see. Quote
kenmcd Posted December 23, 2024 Posted December 23, 2024 Gee, you think maybe adding a little specifics would be helpful? Guessing - based only on the Authority Italic in the top left of the image... Looks like you have the Authority demo fonts installed (from available web downloads). Those demo fonts have completely messed-up names inside. Not likely to work correctly anywhere. Style-linking is broken. Wrong Full Font Name. Wrong PostScript Name. Wrong Unique Font Name. Etc., etc. Broken junk. The commercial versions are also ######-up inside, but differently. You can see the messed up names in the Technical tab on MyFonts. So the style-linking is broken. Appears RetroSupply Co. are a bunch of morons. Who are selling broken fonts. If the Authority fonts are what you are having an issue with, appears the fonts are the problem. Best guess based on virtually zero information. Quote
tleparskas Posted December 24, 2024 Author Posted December 24, 2024 Thanks - you have a crystal ball. Sorry for not providing more info. Yes, it's Authority font for Retro Supply - a purchased font. Much appreciated. TL kenmcd 1 Quote

Have you checked out the free fonts they made available some time back (Firebox Regular, GreasySpoon Regular, Komrade Inline, Komrade Regular, Unlucky Regular, & Wildfire Normal)? Are they also a mess? You may be able to get that Italic font to work by only installing just the font(s) you actually need/use. There are a bunch of errors in the names - and Affinity sometimes shows nothing when it gets confused. Also the fonts could be fixed. Of the commercial fonts I have TTF v1.030 from 2015. It displays 1.000 in some apps (more dumb stuff). PM me your OTFs if you want me to fix them to work properly in Affinity (and other apps). Quote

Are they also a mess? Have not looked at those. Zip them and send them to me and I will take a look. Or just post here - they are free demos. The Authority demos were really messed-up. Definitely made by a Mac user and only tested on a Mac (where they will work in some apps). So they were either sabotaged on purpose (unfortunately common in demo fonts), or the dev was just very sloppy (and mac-centric). Or both. Either way makes me also expect problems with the other demo fonts. Single badly-configured fonts are more likely to still appear to work. Multiple badly-configured fonts in a family are more likely have conflicts which cause problem even selecting the fonts. R C-R 1 Quote
