MikeBike Posted December 17, 2024 Posted December 17, 2024 I have tried to install Publisher ver 2 on my MacMini M4. But it refuses to start. Crashes during startup. Have tried to reinstall but no luck. Designer ver 2 and Photo ver 2 works fine. Did also try to install Publisher 2 on my MacBook Air M1. Worked all right. Is this an known issue? Quote

Hi Mike and welcome to the forums. This isn't a known issue. Which version of macOS are you using? Have you previously used Publisher on this computer? Have you tried restarting your computer? Try starting Publisher with Ctrl held down and then clearing your user data - the default options in the window that appears when starting with Ctrl held down are fine. (Press and hold Ctrl immediately after clicking if you're clicking the dock icon.) If you can't solve it, then please attach a crash report for Serif to review. MikeBike Posted December 18, 2024 Author Posted December 18, 2024 Hi I´m running Sequoia 15.1.1. This is the first time on this computer. Clearing with CTRL-key didn´t help. I enclose a craschreport. Have not tried restarting yet, don´t think that will help. Crashreport.pdf Quote
MikeTO Posted December 18, 2024 Posted December 18, 2024 I agree it's unlikely that a restart will solve it if if's the first time you've installed it on this computer but it's worth a try. But it's the fastest thing to try given that other remedies may take more effort. I'm not an expert on reading crash reports so unless somebody else here can spot the issue you may have to wait for Serif to have a chance to review it. Some other questions Serif may ask: Did you install from the Mac App Store or from the Affinity Store (Serif's website)? Did you use Migration Assistant to move data from your old computer? If so, try uninstalling and reinstalling Publisher. MikeBike Posted December 19, 2024 Author Posted December 19, 2024 Hi I installed from Affinity store. And it didn´t help to reboot. It was a fresh install, not from migration. I have made several tries to reinstall. Hopefully Serif has a solution. Quote
MikeBike Posted December 19, 2024 Author Posted December 19, 2024 (edited) Hi again! It was a long shot but I uninstalled and then downloaded and installed from Appstore. BUT it did not help. (Mistake in my earlier post) Edited December 19, 2024 by MikeBike Quote
MikeTO Posted December 19, 2024 Posted December 19, 2024 The only other suggestion I have is to use a second account on your computer - if you don't have one, create a guest account - and try launching it from there. Whether that works or doesn't work might help narrow this down. Good luck. Staff NathanC Posted January 9 Staff Posted January 9 Hi @MikeBike apologies on the late reply, Are you still experiencing this issue, and if so could you confirm if you've tried creating a new temporary MacOS user and launching the affinity apps from that user as per MikeTO's advice above? The provided crash report backtrace is unfortunately painfully generic and gives no clear indication of the fault, but starting the apps from a separate user will help confirm if it's local user environment related. MikeBike Posted January 14 Author Posted January 14 Hi I have tried with a new temporary user. And the program worked as expected. I then retried as "my self" and the program crashed. Any ideas? Quote
Staff NathanC Posted January 17 Staff Posted January 17 Hi @MikeBike The Affinity apps store the app preferences and user settings in the local user library folder, so by creating a new user these files are re-created. You could try deleting these files and folder on your original user to reset the apps, but there's no guarantee this will work but it will eliminate the possibility of the problem relating to the affinity local app files, you can get to these folders via spotlight search (CMD + Space). ~/Library/Group Containers/ delete or rename the '6LVTQB9699.com.seriflabs’ folder. ~/Library/Preferences/ delete or rename the com.seriflabs.affinitypublisher2.plist file. ~/library/application support/ delete or rename the 'Affinity Publisher 2' folder. Unfortunately local user account issues can be quite difficult to identify, as there could be a problem with the mac user account itself unbeknownst to us and the crash report in this case unfortunately gives us no indication of the root issue. MikeBike Posted January 17 Author Posted January 17 HI The program now runs as I should. But the file com.seriflabs.affinitypublisher2.plist and the folder Affinity Publisher 2 did not exist. Maybe that was a part of the problem... Thanks for your assistance. Quote
