Unfortunately, that seems to happen sometimes, and I don't think anyone knows why. Sometimes it's missing brushes, sometimes missing Assets.  I don't think there are any bugs logged in this area, but I could be wrong.

When even the default brushes have disappeared, there's only one fix that I know of. Make sure none of the V2 Affinity applications are running. Press Ctrl (and keep it pressed) and start one of the applications. You'll get a Clear User Data dialog (though you may need to watch for the application icon on the Windows Taskbar and click it there before the dialog will show up). Once you have that dialog, release the Ctrl button.

Then uncheck all the options that are checked, and check the Reset Brushes option. Click Clear. That will give you just the factory-installed (default) brushes, for all the applications. If you've installed any more brushes from the Affinity Store via the Account dialog they can be reinstalled using that dialog again. But if you've created/installed any manually you'll need to reinstall them manually again.

That didn't work either. Photo just doesn't have the brush list anymore and it errors when I try to import a brush. The basic brushes still haven't came back either. I guess I'm going to have to uninstall photo and reinstall it.

Uninstalling and reinstalling is unlikely to help. I've never seen the Reset fail, so that's very strange.

When you updated, did the update dialog ask if you wanted to Install the update (which would happen if you were using the MSIX version), or did it ask if you wanted to Download (which the MSI/EXE version would use)? If it asked you to Download, then it's up to you to pick the right (MSI/EXE) version of the file. If you picked the wrong one, odd things might happen, but even then it wouldn't act like you've described above.

So I'm very puzzled.

Just to confirm: You did the Reset Brushes from the Clear User Data dialog? If you did it instead from the application Settings, Miscellaneous, Reset Brushes that would not work. It must be done while starting the application with the Ctrl key.

Glad to hear you got it reset properly. Sorry to hear that you have to go through that brush reinstallation. I hope Serif figures this out someday, as it's very annoying when it happens.
