Anchor Ag Posted December 10, 2024 Posted December 10, 2024 Program: Publisher 2.5.6.2887 Steps: 6 page file with a couple hundred linked Designer 2 files. Error on export to PDF. (The program wouldn't display the preview of the file either). The error popup was non-specific and unhelpful, but I guessed mismatched color profiles might be the culprit. (In hindsight, this guess might not have been 100% correct; more on that in a moment). Didn't dismiss the error popup but spent a bit of time opening each Designer file to change the profile to match Publisher's. (This was probably an ignorant waste of my time). Publisher program setting "Automatically update linked resources when modified externally" was ENABLED during this. After finishing my color profile changes, I tried to flip back to Publisher but the program was frozen and constantly increasing its RAM usage. Had to force quit the program. After restarting the program, attempts to export to PDF still failed and no preview was able to be seen. As soon as I ENABLED "Embed ICC Profiles", Publisher immediately whipped up a preview and a subsequent export was successful. Yay. QUESTIONS: Has anyone else experienced this memory leak? Not sure if it's because of the auto update links setting, the fact that all the files were in a OneDrive folder, or something else. Why would enabling ICC profile embed make the preview and export work?
