Hi there

Hoping someone can help. I've tried doing this in the way i'd have done it in photoshop but no luck.

I have a background image of some legs with socks on . I selected the socks part of the image and tried to paste a pattern image into that selection (using paste inside) so that i could change the design of the socks completely.

It didnt work. The most that happened was it just pasted the image on top of the whole background image rather than only inside the selection.

I then tried to copy the selected area of the background image, paste it as a new layer, then try and paste the pattern into that. I think that might have kind of worked but I then can't move the pattern around to get it in the right place.

It is driving me mad. ive included the file as it was at the stage I copied the selected area and pasted it.

Any help would be gratefully received.

Thanks in advance

Odds are the layer is an Image layer, not a Pixel layer. You can Rasterize the layer or you can Merge Visible which will give you a new Pixel layer to work with the copy/paste.

Affinity Designer 2.6.0 | Affinity Photo 2.6.0 | Affinity Publisher 2.6.0 | Beta versions as they appear.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

How large (W & H) was that pattern & where did it come from? After you paste it, select it in the Layers panel & in the Transform panel, are its X & Y values with the Center anchor in that panel selected somewhere within the sock layer?

When you used Paste inside, did you have this image on the clipboard? What kind (what filetype) is this image?
