Hi

After lates update, file preview does not work when doing "index sheet" on Mac. (Showing to .af files next to each other in Quick Look)
Fyi.

Ensure you have enabled the Quick Look extensions in macOS System Settings. The extensions were not automatically enabled for me after installing 2.5.6 - I don't know if that's because I have the same extensions enabled for the 2.6 beta. Just choose Apple > System Settings, search for Extensions, click Quick Look, and enable the three apps.

And if there are still issues consider a restart of macOS.

Thanks for the feedback Mike.
When doing full screen (option + space bar + "index sheet") preview does not work having files side by side.
But no longer much of an issue now after turning on extensions as you suggested.
Still a bit of fix for Affinity though. Unless a full ram reset and restart will do the trick.

I still have issues with this. After updating, this is how it is for me:

  • For OLD files (created before I updated to macOS Sequoia), the previews in Finder are FIXED now.
  • For NEW files (created after I updated to macOS Sequoia), the previews in Finder are still NOT fixed.

I also didn't have any of the options in @MikeTO's screenshot activated by default and still, preview images returned partially, as described above. Toggling on these options unfortunately changes nothing for me.

MacBook Air, M3 chip, 24 gig RAM, Affinity trial versions v2.5.6 all three apps, Sequoia 15.1.1

Apple support suggests that the breaking of my QuickLook functionality (highlight one or more files on desktop and tap space bar -which used to give previews instantly (to all generic image file formats) and now does nothing <sigh>) may be due to your software having been installed.

Is this likely? Is there a fix?

Thank you for your attention and my apologies if this has been answered somewhere because I have looked but found nothing helpful so far...

Unquestionably, your software is brilliant...

hopefully,

Hi @pragmactic and welcome to the forums.

Go to macOS System Settings and search for Login Items & Extensions. Select it on the left side, scroll the right side to the bottom and click the "i" icon beside Quick Look. Find Affinity Photo in the list and ensure that the two options below it are enabled. Do your settings look like this?

None of the Affinity V1 apps show up in these settings.

Do you have v2 installed? If so, I believe the v1 apps may not appear in settings because they share the same file extension.

I've now exhausted my knowledge of QuickLook 🙂, I never use this feature myself, so somebody else may know more.

Negative, at work we only have Affinity 1.10.8. I'm the first to upgrade to macOS Sequoia 15.5, but sooner or later several colleagues will follow.

@MikeTO I checked at home, where both Affinity V1 and V2 are installed. IIRC, when I upgraded to macOS Sequoia 15.5 a few days ago, a dialog window popped up asking if extensions of several programs should be allowed/activated. Thanks to the settings for Affinity V2, preview is available for all my Affinity projects, even those created with V1.

IIRC, Apple changed the way QuickLook worked and Affinity v2 was changed to work the new way. I don't believe v1 was updated so I'm not surprised that it doesn't work on a machine with just v1. I don't have a machine like that so I can't test it to confirm but somebody else here might know.

Hi, I did that, restarted my MBP M2 Pro and still have low resolution Quick Look Previews for AP2 and AD2 (latest versions). Any other tips?

Try restarting macOS after changing the setting.

Then open Affinity and save a file and see what it's Quick Look preview is.

Good luck

Thank you for your reply.. Did all of that but no change... Here's how it looks for the exact same document saved with PS and AP2. The .psd file is sharp while the .afphoto not so much.

The instructions were just to get QuickLook working again. The previews for Affinity are lower res than Photoshop so there's nothing you can do about that.
