Publisher v2 - Can Anchors be made on a Master Page?

Recommended Posts

I am wanting to data merge anchor IDs from a master page - and having no luck assigning anchors to a master page.

On both Windosw 11 & Mac OSX v2 publisher.

I cannot find any information on either the forums or in help.

Cheers,

Caleela.

Sorry, but I don't know what that sentence means.

If you were to put an anchor on a Master Page, then it would have the same value on each page the Master is applied to. So what would the Data Merge function accomplish?

Are you saying that you want to put a Data Merge Field on a Master Page, which would become an Anchor populated from a Data Merge Source file?

If so, I would start by doing it on a regular document page, to make sure you have the basic Data Merge process working properly. Then I might consider trying to put the info onto a Master Page, but I've never found it necessary to use Master Pages in Data Merge processing at all, so I would probably just leave it on a regular document page and run Data Merge from there.

The question was about creating an anchor on a master page  - is it possible?

It should be possible, but how does this relate to Data Merge? You didn't answer the question I asked you about what the anchor will point to. Do you want it to populate from the Data Merge Source? Or is it static?

@walt.farrell The anchor is for a month summary page so all days can point back to it (by adding hyperlinks)
The intention is to use data merge to update the month anchor(s) for 12 months (one month master page with the <field> anchor included).

I still cannot create an anchor on a master page which is the issue.
