cj-does-stuff Posted October 1, 2024 Posted October 1, 2024 I would love to use LAB color more, but find selecting relative colors in LAB space to be overly difficult. It would be great to have a proper LAB color box in V2. I'm currently using V1, there is an HSL color box, and I did not find any LAB color box documentation. The HSL color box works, but alters lightness unintuitively (HSL and LAB lightness are different). Example: The box colors are very rough estimates. I have a* is on the x axis, b* is on the y axis. b*+ should be more yellow, and every color should have equal perceived lightness. NotMyFault 1 Quote
GarryP Posted October 4, 2024 Posted October 4, 2024 I’m not able to get the Colour Panel of Photo (either 1.10.6 or 2.5.5), on Windows, into the configuration shown in your screen-grab, with the box showing and “LAB” selected in the drop-down. Can you describe how to select that configuration and give us a full-screen (whole application UI) screenshot showing your Colour Panel in that configuration and where we can also see your Layers Panel and the Tool you have selected? NotMyFault Posted October 4, 2024 Posted October 4, 2024 I assume the screenshot is a mockup of what he wants to get, not a screenshot of the current version. GarryP Posted October 4, 2024 Posted October 4, 2024 Ah, that would explain why I can’t get the Panel into that state, and maybe what had happened to the little ‘circle thing’ at the top-left of the colour box in the image. Since I don’t use LAB colours I’ll bow out of the discussion at this point. Quote
NotMyFault Posted October 4, 2024 Posted October 4, 2024 I like the request and would add that out-of-gamut areas (relative the current Display capabilities) should optionally be marked in a suitable way, eg by a curve marking the limits of sRGB, Display P3 etc within the area.
