I am new to Develooper 2 after using Illustrator for 12 years.

I eventually stumbled upon the facility to enter a scaling factor into the size textbox to scale the image (yes, I had to guess how to do it!), to, say 50%. I asked Affinity support if there was a more intuitive way, as the Help menu search gives no results for a search of "scale, or Scaling, etc."

They pointed me to a webpage I hadn't found, that wa hidden away amongst a old of other pages, that talks of lots of entry types for the size textboxes.

To be honest, expecting someone to either remember or look upon a host of value types whenever one wants to scale or size an object, stinks of a poor interface design.

Whilst I think, the Illustrator interface is too cluttered and inferior in many ways to Developer, I would like a scaling tool added to the icons on the left toolbar

Hi @TonyS3 and welcome to the forums.

There's no need for a separate Scale tool and Scale dialog because the Move tool and Transform panel does it all.

The Help system doesn't have the best search engine, but a search for 'scale by percentage' would have given you the answer you wanted as the first result. If you can't find something in the Help system, try searching it with Google. For best results, preface your search with:

site:affinity.help/designer2/English.lproj

for example:

site:affinity.help/designer2/English.lproj scale by percentage
