muffincat Posted September 20, 2024 Posted September 20, 2024 Hey guys! I'm trying to add empty spaces like lines to a logo, to seperate the letters with the Logo. But how do I do that? I tried making a line, putting it above the logo and then make the line transparent. But it just went invisible instead. One Letter of the logo, I made with the line tool. So I thought I could change the end of the line but all I can do is to make it round. Thank you! Quote
GarryP Posted September 20, 2024 Posted September 20, 2024 The best way(s) will be dependant upon what type of layer the red shape is. If it is a closed curve then you will have various choices, if it’s an open curve, or a different type of layer, then your choices will be different. Which sort of layer is it? Note: Setting the Opacity of a curve will, under ‘normal’ circumstances, only affect that curve. There are exceptions to this but I needn’t get into them here because it’s irrelevant to what you are doing. Note: Full-screen (whole application UI) screenshots are much better for problem diagnosis than limited-area screen-grabs. muffincat 1 Quote

Where do I find out if it is open or closed? Quote

GarryP Posted September 20, 2024 Posted September 20, 2024 I’m not seeing anything in that screenshot which “says round square”. (The layer you have selected in your screenshot is an Artistic Text layer with no name and, apparently, no content from what I can see (or not) in the thumbnail.) Please select the layer which contains (or is) the red shape we could see in your first screen-grab and give us a new screenshot where we can see that layer selected in the Layers Panel. Quote
user_0815 Posted September 20, 2024 Posted September 20, 2024 In your screenshot, set the white line to blend mode "Erase". That will make itself and everything below transparent. erase.mp4 muffincat 1 Quote

Once we know what sort of layer it is, and then determine whether they are okay with bits of the design being rasterised, we can then advise on the best method. Quote
GarryP Posted September 20, 2024 Posted September 20, 2024 The Erase Blend Mode forces the layer it’s been used on, and any layers the erasure affects, to be rasterised upon export. As such, they may not look right in certain circumstances (high zoom, etc.), or be useful in later workflows (animation, etc.). The Erase Blend Mode should only be used when you really know that doing so will not negatively affect later uses of the design. R C-R 1 Quote
