Leo1
Boolean add does not work when adding a line with a shape or curve. The line disappears when trying to add the line to a shape or curve. This is a very essential operation to keep the canvas uncluttered while making flowcharts. This works in a lot of vector programs, however not in Affinity. This is old, so I think it is considered normal behaviour.
Hangman
Hi @Leo1, You will have to use Expand Stroke (Layer > Expand Stroke) for both the Stroke and Rectangle before applying the Add Boolean... Your other option would be to Merge the two Layers (Layer > Geometry > Merge Curves)... Leo1
Thank you very much, I was looking for the merge layers, which is bringing the desired result, often it is called grouping. And the boolean funtion does not work as it should, in my opinion, I understand now the reasoning, which is now the expand stroke option. I brought this item up, since it is a severe usability issue (for flow charts for instance). Without naming it a bug, I am almost sure it will be ignored. It took me several days of trying and help of this forum, to find one solution. The half year free trial is also about usability and I saw a lot of video's with Adobe users comments, who got frustrated of the Affinity user interface. So I think Affinity should work on the usability. It is only a couple of small things, but they can be very hard to find out, for new users. Friendly greetings Leo.
