za142
Hi, could you advise me how to connect multiple separate lines at the same time that connect at points? For example: I have ten rectangles, each formed by 4 lines overlapping at points. How can I connect them at the same time to make 10 separate rectangles? Pšenda
Select two lines/curves in Layers panel (or select with Shift key), and press Join Curves in Context toolbar. https://affinity.help/designer2/English.lproj/pages/CurvesShapes/edit_linesAndShapes.html P.S. In your case, where there are a million curves and rectangles, I would consider replacing it with a copy of the Rectangle shape, or if you want it to be less regular, then with a copy of one/several prepared shapes (or Symbols, which you can subsequently modify and will change in all instances). When using snapping it will snap to the same position. Since it looks like a tile, it's probably some area filling, so I'd consider using bitmap fills as well. Staff MEB Posted September 3 Staff Share Posted September 3 Hi @za142, Welcome to Affinity Forums I'm afraid there's no way to do what you want in a single operation. In theory the Join Curves command (in the context toolbar with the Node Tool selected) should be able to do this (assuming the nodes of the lines do overlap correctly), but there's a few issues preventing this from working properly - the rectangles are not properly closed despite looking so (lines do become a single shape, but the shape is not closed because one of the nodes is left un-connected). If you then press the Close Curve command (while the rectangles are still selected) in an attempt to properly close them (to fix those nodes left un-connected), Affinity may pick and connect them incorrectly connecting them with nodes from other rectangles nearby instead of closing the overlapping nodes of each rectangle. What I suggest for the moment is to select all the lines, switch to the Shape Builder Tool, set the Action to Create a new shape from selected areas (in the context toolbar) then click inside each "rectangle" to generate a shape from the areas delimited by the lines. Then in the Layers panel delete (or hide) the original lines used to generate the shapes/rectangles. I'm logging the issues I'm finding from your case. sfriedberg 1 Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
