I can't export/convert large files to PSD

Recommended Posts

My client uses photoshop, so I had to convert a large tarp with the dimension of 17x10 ft to PSD, but it loads forever and the exporter keeps saying that the file is way too big to export. This is my main problem with affinity.

My understanding of the problem is that the cause is not with the Affinity applications but, as the warning shows, that the PSD file format cannot handle documents above certain pixel dimensions. See here: https://www.adobe.com/creativecloud/file-types/image/raster/psd-file.html

Or, to put that another way, you can’t put a gallon of liquid into a pint glass.

Try lowering the DPI to get fewer pixels.

Photoshop users would probably use PSB format rather than PSD, but the Affinity applications don't support PSB. Doing something to reduce file size is your only choice, as far as I know. DPI reduction as Garry suggested, or breaking the design into pieces and exporting individually, so your colleague can reconstruct it, for example.

Another option might be to export it as tiff file. AFAIk tiff does not have any restrictions in px size.

As long as only a raster image is needed, yes that could work. Good suggestion.
