tombro Posted June 15, 2024 Posted June 15, 2024 I have a PSD file with smart layers. It is a preview of a desktop computer, tablet and smart phone. Each item is a smart layer with another smart layer with the screen masked and effects applied. Affinity Photo will open the file with no problem and I can replace the screenshot layers with no issue. However, after saving and occasionally while working on the document, the second smart layer which contains the screenshot itself will disappear. The layer shows as an embedded layer, but it has no content other than the effect, the screenshot itself is gone and double-clicking it won't open anything. There are three of these groups of layers within the document. I have recorded a loom, but would rather not make it public. Attached is the file, one of the layers is okay, but the other two have lost their screens. MacBook Pro 17 inch 2014 macOS Big Sur 11.7.10 Affinity Photo 2.5.2 cfp-preview.afphoto Quote
Staff NathanC Posted June 17, 2024 Staff Posted June 17, 2024 Hi @tombro, Could you provide us with a copy the screen recording which demonstrates the issue? I've provided a private upload link below. If you could also provide a copy of the second resource that you placed inside that would be great. https://www.dropbox.com/request/H5uJPf2IBK4XKIgN2ixH When opening one of the embedded resources I can see that the 'REPLACE SCREEN' was originally a linked (not embedded) .TIFF file, but all the associated data is missing. tombro Posted June 17, 2024 Author Posted June 17, 2024 Thanks, I have shared the link and the original PSD file. Unfortunately, I have deleted the files I placed, but they were just screenshot png files. Quote
Staff NathanC Posted June 18, 2024 Staff Posted June 18, 2024 Hi @tombro, Thanks, I'm able to consistently re-produce this issue following the second instance of replacing the image in your file. When I open the first PSD (iPad air white), and then open the embedded resource inside that file and replace the image, it all goes well. The problem then triggers upon repeating these steps with a second resource (Desktop 1), when I go back to the original file I find that the embedded resource link within the iPad air white PSD has broken entirely. I've logged this with the developers. tombro 1 Quote
tombro Posted June 18, 2024 Author Posted June 18, 2024 Thanks. About the first time I've ever managed to get an issue I'm having replicated with anything! 😂 Quote
