will_barbo Posted June 4, 2024 Posted June 4, 2024 Hi, I've been using Affinity for a couple of years. I used to be able to use the "scroll" on with mouse to make a text larger or smaller (when hovering the text size box), to make inter letter spacing larger/smaller and most other variables "boxes". Has it been disabled? I have reset-ed the studio and have not changed mouse. I'm using a Apple Magic Mouse Thanks. Quote

I have to say, though, I’m really struggling to see the logic behind disabling this feature. I get that some users might’ve had issues with accidental changes while scrolling through panels, but personally, I’ve never run into that problem—not once. And even if it was an issue for some, wouldn’t the fair solution be to add a toggle in the settings to enable or disable it? That way, everyone could use it the way they prefer. This feature has been a core part of Affinity for as long as I can remember, and removing it out of the blue feels like a step backward. It’s honestly made the app less intuitive for me—especially with a Magic Mouse or Trackpad. Having to click, drag sliders, and release every time is so much clunkier than just hovering and scrolling like it used to be. It’s a big hit to my workflow, to the point where I’ve actually stopped using the app because of it. And here’s the thing: it still works with regular mice, so the ‘accidental scrolling’ excuse doesn’t fully add up. It just feels inconsistent. I’d love to hear if there’s any chance this could be reconsidered—maybe with that toggle idea—or if there’s a workaround I’m missing. This was one of those small but brilliant features that made Affinity stand out, and I really miss it. Quote
