ollio Posted May 25, 2024 Posted May 25, 2024 So when using the artboard "clip to canvas" is default on and greyed out. What to do when moving objects outside the artboard? In wireframe mode some of them can be selected, some not. So things are gone and when exporting to pdf you have all the trash in your document. Thats so annoying! Also when pasting a svg in on the artboard it is pasted within a layer which makes everything else unselectable. Also its totaly annoying that you cant just select elements on another artboard. You have to select it in the layers or via its name at the top of the artboard. WTF? So are these bugs? I hope so. If not someone at the devTeam is out of mind or nobody is testing the software. All this totally kills the flow. I changed from AI to AD because its was easy and fast. But with each update AD gets more messy and slower. Its really closing up to shi**y AI Might have to switch to inkscape lol Quote

That one is correct, and as intended. 4 minutes ago, ollio said: What to do when moving objects outside the artboard? In wireframe mode some of them can be selected, some not. We'll need screenshots and/or sample documents to be able to understand that, I think. 5 minutes ago, ollio said: Also when pasting a svg in on the artboard it is pasted within a layer which makes everything else unselectable. That sounds like it might be correct. An SVG file will paste in as an Embedded or Linked documen, a kind of container. To edit the layers it contains you would double-click that layer in the Layers panel, which will open a separate editing tab. Or, you could Open the SVG file, select its contents, Copy, and Paste those contents (rather than the file) into your Designer document. 7 minutes ago, ollio said: Also its totaly annoying that you cant just select elements on another artboard. That is controlled by your choice (on, off) of Edit All Layers at the bottom of the Layers panel: One Help topic for this: https://affinity.help/designer2/en-US.lproj/pages/Artboards/artboards_objectControl.html 10 minutes ago, ollio said: So are these bugs? As far as I know, no, they aren't. But I didn't really understand that first one. Konspaul Posted June 6, 2024 Posted June 6, 2024 If you are using artboards and clip to canvas is grayed out simply drag the desired picture to the artboard and then drag is outside. For me it does stay on the outside of the artboard. Quote
