Knifetool doesn't work as I want.

Recommended Posts

Problem with the knife tool.
I'm doing an exercise in affinity designer (a course from Ally) with that slice of pizza. If I have two overlapping lines like in the exercise and I want to cut away a part then I have no way to delete that one part, if I want to delete it then I also delete the part that I don't want to delete. It is very annoying because I cannot complete that exercise, but it is also very annoying with other design work. I have already tried all kinds of shortcuts, I have watched videos on the internet, it seems to work for everyone who has a Mac, but I have Windows 10 and it just won't work. Does anyone know how I should solve this? Thank you in advance.

When I cut a circle with the knife I wind up with a wedge shape that I can tap with the knife tool to select that and only that wedge. Then I can hit the delete key and delete only that wedge.

Are you cutting from outside the circle's perimeter through to outside the perimeter? Or are you perhaps just cutting a slit in the shape?

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

I edited my post with a file so you can see what I mean

Although you added a picture, it doesn’t show what you started with, what you drew next, and how or where you used the Knife Tool. Please post a separate picture for each step so that we can see where you might have gone wrong.

Are you seeing the Knife tool turn into a scissors icon?

Make sure the closed shape is selected when you use the scissors.
